Pakistan has finally accomplished a rare achievement by defeating England in a home Test series following a 30-year wait for a series win after losing the opening match.
Thanks to the outstanding efforts of spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, Pakistan recovered from a difficult start to win the series 2-1.
This triumph is reminiscent of Pakistan’s 1995 comeback against Zimbabwe, which was the last occasion the team triumphed in a three-match Test series despite falling down early.
Pakistan pulled off an incredible comeback to defeat England in the three-match home Test series after losing the opening Test in Multan. Pakistan won the last two Test matches to seal the series 2-1, thanks to the efforts of spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali. For the first time in almost 30 years, this enabled Pakistan to achieve a significant milestone. Since defeating Zimbabwe in a similar manner in 1995, Pakistan has never won a three-match Test series after losing the opening Test.
Pakistan swept to victory in Rawalpindi before midday on the third Test day as Noman and Sajid knocked over all ten England wickets to dismiss the visitors for 112.
Pakistan won the Test series at home for the first time since defeating South Africa in February 2021 when captain Shan Masood hit five boundaries in six balls, sending Shoaib Bashir over the ropes.
“We’d like to dedicate this to the people of Pakistan, who’ve been through a lot,” Masood remarked after losing his last two series since taking over last year, 3-0 to Australia and 2-0 against Bangladesh.
“Hopefully this will put a smile on people’s faces, and hopefully we can have full houses during matches.”
Superstars Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, along with pacer Naseem Shah, were dismissed after England thrashed the hosts by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test in Multan, making the 2-1 series victory seem unlikely.
Alternatives With a combined total of 39 wickets in the next two Test matches, Noman and Sajid completely changed the course of the series. In Multan, Pakistan won the second game by a margin of 152 runs.
“A series victory supported the first victory, which occurred after a long period. “It’s unique,” Masood remarked.
“It means a lot to everyone to get up and give it their all. It has to do with character. For us, nothing is more special than to be here and stand as the victorious squad.
After England resumed the day on 24-3 but were bowled in 37.2 overs for their lowest score in Pakistan, Noman concluded with figures of 6-42 and Sajid 4-69.
The lowest number ever recorded by England was 130 in Lahore in 1987.
