Is it Sunil Gavaskar vs Virat Kholi again ?

In the whirlwind of IPL 2024, one name sparked fiery debates and endless discussions: Virat Kohli. His strike rate became the center of attention, drawing opinions from Indian and foreign cricket legends alike. While some shrugged off the criticism, labeling it as futile, others couldn’t resist diving into the fray.

For Kohli, the scrutiny over his strike rate seemed like a tempest in a teapot. He remained steadfast, unfazed by the cacophony of voices dissecting his every move on the pitch. To him, it was all noise, distractions from the game he loved and excelled at.

Yet, amidst the chaos, a curious trend emerged. Despite Kohli’s undisputed talent and track record, there were whispers among cricket experts. Some cricket experts do not even put Virat Kohli’s name on his fantasy playing xI for team India. They become trolled for their behavior like this. That was a different topic we will discuss later on that.

Cricket, itself is a very unpredictable game, nothing is set in stone. Kohli’s journey, marked by highs and lows, was a testament to that. With each inning, he defied expectations, silencing critics and reaffirming his prowess on the field. His bat became a conductor of symphonies, orchestrating victories and rewriting records with finesse.

What Virat said about his strike rate criticism?

In the aftermath of the electrifying SRH vs. GT match, the post-match conversation crackled with tension as Virat Kohli, in a subtle yet pointed manner, addressed the persistent chatter surrounding his strike rate. With a wry smile and steely gaze, Kohli alluded to the cacophony of criticism as nothing more than “outside noise” – a thinly veiled jab at the commentators who had been relentless in their scrutiny.

He said, “Not really, all the people who talk about strike rates and me not playing spin well are the ones talking about this stuff. For me, it’s about winning the games for the team and there’s a reason why you’ve done it for 15 years, you’ve done this day in and day out, you’ve won games for your teams, I’m not quite sure that if you haven’t been in that situation yourself, to sit and talk about the game in the box.”

He was not finished here he added also,

“For me, people can talk about their assumptions day in and day out, but those who have done it day in and day out, they know what’s happening and it’s a kind of muscle memory for me now”.

So, he just said that everyone criticized him and his strike rate over the past time, but he was playing for almost 15 years, and his main motto was to win games for teams. What ever it takes. He did what the team needed in that situation, it’s a game as per the situation.

In response to Kohli’s assertion, some cricketing luminaries voiced their dissent in no uncertain terms. They saw his remarks not as a defense of his playing style, but as a dismissal of the tradition and ethos that had shaped the sport they held dear. Their retorts, laced with emotion and conviction, served as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy of cricket and the principles that underpinned it.

With each word, he reaffirmed his status as a true icon of the game, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of cricket fans everywhere.

He said “All these guys talk about, ‘Oh we don’t care about outside noise’. Accha! Then why are you replying to any outside noise or whatever it is? We all played a bit of cricket, not a lot of cricket. We don’t have agendas” in a very dramatic way.

He was not stopped here and also said for star sports “I hope Star Sports realizes that when that clip is shown, questioning the critics, the critics are your commentators. For you to show the person belittling your commentators, I’m not sure that’s a great thing. You need to realize you have shown it enough times, everybody’s got the message. I would be very disappointed if you showed it once more.”

He took Virat’s statement personally and wanted to say star sports that broadcasting that clip again and again, it’s put a question mark on their cricket knowledge, that he said “We all played a bit of cricket, not a lot of cricket. We don’t have agendas”.
